About the Role
Trading the city rush for the pristine landscapes of remote Arnhem Land, you will take charge of our commercial kitchen operations, leading local catering teams, delivering high-quality meals, and embedding best-practice food safety. This role offers high autonomy and the unique opportunity to mentor local staff, upskill community members, and make a direct impact on community health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Catering Operations: Oversee daily food preparation, menu planning, and meal presentation standards while adhering to client dietary requirements and budget allocations.
Kitchen Leadership & Mentoring: Manage, supervise, and train kitchen personnel (Cooks and Kitchen Hands/Activities Coordinators).
Safety & Compliance: Maintain integrated Food Safety, Hygiene, and WHS plans, ensuring equipment compliance and infection control standards.
Financial & Inventory Control: Perform monthly stocktakes, manage supplier relationships, prepare wastage reports, and cost menus to maximize value.
Community Connection: Develop therapeutic and culturally appropriate menus tailored for social events and seasonal community needs.
What You Will Bring
Qualifications & Trade: Trade Qualification as a Chef with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in production kitchen management or similar roles.
Food & Safety Expertise: Deep knowledge of food safety regulations, therapeutic and culturally appropriate meal preparation, and inventory management.
Leadership & Mentoring: Demonstrated ability to lead team members, conduct training, and foster a collaborative environment.
Physical & Remote Resilience: Capacity to work extended hours, manage physical demands in tropical conditions, and adapt to living in remote Aboriginal communities.
Licenses & Clearances: Unrestricted Manual Driver’s Licence, NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), and First Aid/CPR certifications (or ability to obtain).
