Randstad is seeking a highly analytical and articulate Assistant Director Strategy / Design Strategist to join a prominent federal government department.
In this dynamic leadership role, you will lead complex strategic analysis, translate broad priorities into actionable implementation plans, and develop evidence-based recommendations for executive decision-makers. You will play a vital part in driving organisational change and engaging key stakeholders across a highly structured government framework.
Role Responsibilities
- Strategic Analysis & Modeling: Gather data-driven insights, perform qualitative and quantitative analysis (including Excel modeling), and evaluate complex issues to form evidence-based recommendations.
- Executive Communication: Draft high-impact briefs, policy documents, strategy papers, and presentation materials tailored for senior executives, governing boards, and Ministers.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Influence: Build robust cross-functional relationships, facilitate strategic discussions, negotiate outcomes, and align stakeholders around agency priorities.
- Strategy Implementation: Translate high-level strategic objectives into structured, deliverable action plans and support change implementation across the organisation.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential Criteria:
- Strategic & Critical Thinking: Proven ability to unpack complex issues and formulate sound strategic recommendations.
- Data Analysis & Excel Modeling: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capability, including intermediate to advanced Excel modeling skills.
- Executive Written & Verbal Communication: Demonstrated track record of writing high-level briefing papers and presentations for executives, boards, or Ministers.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Proven success negotiating outcomes and facilitating cross-functional alignment with diverse stakeholders.
- Implementation & Change Support: Experience translating high-level strategy into tangible delivery frameworks and driving change.
Desirable Criteria:
- Prior experience developing policy and strategic papers within a public sector, government, or regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated experience with change management methodologies and governance reporting frameworks.
