Role Purpose
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail oriented APS6 Quality Officer to join the National Early Childhood (NEC) Branch. In this pivotal role, you will support young participants under nine years of age with developmental delays or disabilities and their families to ensure they receive timely, high quality early support. Accountable under limited direction, you will apply your expertise to conduct quality control, navigate complex legislation, mentor team members and drive continuous improvement across early childhood planning.
Duties and Responsibilities
...Quality Assurance & Control: Conduct quality assurance and quality control activities relating to early childhood planning and decision making processes.
Team Mentoring & Capability: Support, coach and mentor team members to enhance technical skills, knowledge, and the correctness of decision making.
Continuous Improvement: Assist in developing and implementing improvement strategies to achieve branch goals, tracking key quality trends and delivering actionable insights.
Stakeholder Engagement & Education: Liaise with and educate key agency stakeholders to build operational knowledge of early childhood planning.
Escalation Management: Manage complex escalations, providing timely and effective resolution in line with agency standards.
Policy & Legislative Interpretation: Apply initiative and sound judgement to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Skills Required
Legislative & Policy Application: Strong ability to interpret and apply complex legislative frameworks, policies and procedural guidelines to drive compliant decision-making.
Mentoring & Workflow Management: Proven ability to coach team members, set operational priorities and manage workflows efficiently under limited direction.
Technical Advice & Problem Solving: Expertise in delivering detailed technical, policy and operational advice on complex issues.
Data Analysis & Excel Proficiency: Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical skills to manage, interpret and evaluate data to inform decisions.
Communication & Liaison: Strong representation and stakeholder management skills to educate, collaborate and build capability across the branch.
Knowledge and Experience Required
Candidates should demonstrate experience across some or all of the following areas:
Early Childhood Planning: Proven experience within early childhood planning or working directly with children with disabilities.
Planning: A minimum of two years of planning experience is highly desirable.
Quality & Governance: Experience conducting quality control, identifying trends and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a public sector context.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Qualifications: A qualification in Allied Health, Education, or Disability is highly desirable.
Citizenship: You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for employment with the agency.
Vetting: Satisfactory completion of an Employment Suitability Check / National Police Check prior to commencement.
