Role Purpose
Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, the Transport Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring daily transport operations to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement daily transport operational plans in line with site operational requirements and restrictions to meet customer demand.
- Allocate loads and delivery times to transport partners to maximize operational efficiency and minimize cost.
- Monitor and adjust transport schedules in real time in response to delays, changes, or unforeseen circumstances.
- Liaise effectively with transport partners, customers, customer services and internal ops teams to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Ensure full compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management, load restraint guidelines, mass management, and transport regulations.
- Track and monitor key transport KPIs, including route efficiency, vehicle utilization, and on-time delivery performance.
- Perform daily operational performance reviews to eliminate waste, identify emerging trends, and resolve safety or service issues.
- Maintain accurate scheduling and operational records within the SAP Transport Management System (TMS).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in scheduling, route optimization, and logistics system enhancements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in transport scheduling, logistics coordination, or a related transport operations role.
- Strong knowledge of road transport operations, safety compliance, and regulations (including CoR).
- Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (SAP TMS preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong geographical knowledge of local & interstate transport networks and supply routes.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
