Representing a leading South Australian Defence company specialising in the design and integration of complex hi-tech systems, we are urgently seeking a Technical Officer. You will join an established RF and Electronic Surveillance team focused on radars, electronic warfare (EW), and other cutting-edge projects crucial to Australian Defence. A long list of future projects ensures an abundance of diverse, challenging work for the foreseeable future.
Working within a collaborative environment of junior and experienced engineers and technicians, you will gain exposure to all facets of product design and manufacturing for Defence. This setting also provides a unique opportunity for continuous professional development through formal training and personal mentorship.
Daily Role Activities
- Assembling, modifying, and repairing various electronic systems.
- Conducting fault-finding in complex electronic and electrical systems.
- Fabricating, testing, and installing RF, electrical, and communication cable assemblies.
- Supporting test and integration activities, which includes RF measurements, PCB rework, and EMC testing.
- Managing both the RF lab and the electronics rework facilities.
- Ensuring the ongoing maintenance of technical documentation.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- An Electrical/Electronic trade qualification, or a similar credential.
- Recent hands-on technical experience working directly with electronic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to solder, encompassing both through-hole and Surface Mount Technology (SMT).
- Experience in cable and loom building, repair, testing, and cable termination.
- Experience building and repairing cable harnesses and assemblies.
- Working knowledge of RF cabling and RF test equipment.
- The ability to read electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical design documentation to fault-find and complete repairs.
- Existing experience with, or a willingness to learn, advanced PCB rework and modification techniques.
