The Role
- Conduct initial control surveys for construction, dredging, and hydrographic operations.
- Plan and execute terrestrial and hydrographic surveys.
- Support marine piling and steel placement set outs.
- Perform as-built surveys and calculate project quantities and volumes.
- Install, configure, and operate positioning systems for construction and dredging.
- Digitise design concepts and create CAD drawings.
- Develop models for machine control systems.
- Process data, ensure quality control, and compile technical reports.
- Draft survey plans and product deliverables.
- Assist in developing management standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Handle project administration as needed
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and statutory requirements.
Travel Requirements
This position requires regular travel and away work.
Regional travel will be required and, from time to time, travel interstate.
The Candidate
- Bachelor's degree or tertiary qualifications in surveying, engineering, or hydrographic sciences.
- 2-5 years of construction survey experience with expertise in modern topographic surveying (optical and GNSS) and knowledge of current field and office procedures.
- SSSI Level 1 or Level 2 hydrographic surveying accreditation (preferred but not required).
- Land survey license or registration (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency with programs like 12D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Hypack, Dredgepack, Trimble Marine Construction, or similar.
- Advanced skills in using total station and GNSS (RTK and static) equipment.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Practical and achievement-oriented approach.
- Demonstrates integrity, respect, and enthusiasm.
- Aligns judgement and behaviour with company values.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Project, Word, and Excel.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to drive a manual 4WD.
- White Card certification.
