Senior Urban Planner | 3-Month Contract to Permanent Opportunity
Location: Melbourne, VIC (Hybrid)
Rate: $60 – $70 per hour + super (Casual rate)

Known for delivering impactful spatial and economic strategies, our client works with both government and private sector bodies on landmark urban developments across Victoria. Having recently achieved strong growth, their planning team is expanding rapidly, creating a unique opportunity for an ambitious Senior Urban Planner to join them on a 3-month contract, with the view to transition into a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver strategic advice and end-to-end management for high-profile rezoning projects, strategic planning schemes, and major retail/town center developments.
Draft, lodge, and manage complex planning applications, driving long-term strategic projects through the Victoria Planning Provisions.
Liaise directly with state government authorities, local councils, private developers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Prepare comprehensive strategic reports, scheme amendments, and yield analyses for diverse urban and regional sites.
Manage client relationships and internal stakeholders with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
Key Requirements
Experience: Minimum 4–5 years of urban planning experience within the Victorian planning system.
Background: A hybrid background across both public and private sectors, and/or exposure to regional Victorian planning schemes, is highly regarded.
Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills, an adaptable "can-do" attitude, and a genuine eagerness to learn and grow within the business.
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, VPP, strategic rezonings, and long-term project lifecycles.
