We’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Track) to lead on-site track delivery for a major rail project on the Sunshine Coast that is currently in delivery.
Reporting to the Rail Systems Manager, you will take ownership of track construction, constructability, and staging across both brownfield and greenfield environments. You’ll lead a small team of engineers while coordinating closely with key client stakeholders along with leaders of other disciplines (OHLE, Signalling, Civil, and Utilities)—to ensure permanent way construction is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
If you are currently based interstate and considering a move to Queensland, full relocation assistance is available to support your transition to the Sunshine Coast.
Key Responsibilities For This Role Include:
Site Leadership: Manage on-site track construction, staging, and constructability for both brownfield and greenfield sections.
Team & Subcontractor Guidance: Lead and mentor site engineers, review subcontractor arrangements, and ensure track teams maintain full safety and technical compliance.
Corridor & SCAS Readiness: Ensure site readiness for SCAS activities within the active rail corridor while adhering strictly to key client requirements.
Commercial & Cost Tracking: Manage forecasting, resource allocation, and cost tracking to maintain strong project margins and budget control. This is a key function of this role.
Design & Documentation: Participate in design reviews, manage ITPs and Activity Method Statements (AMS), and ensure track quality standards are met.
Stakeholder Coordination: Work collaborative with all key internal and external stakeholders to ensure exceptional project outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
Track Experience: Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, including 4+ years on-site delivering major rail infrastructure (projects > $50M).
Corridor & Environment: Strong background in permanent rail construction across both greenfield and brownfield settings.
Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to manage site costs, track productivity, and handle resource forecasting.
Stakeholder Skills: Confident interface management with clients, site teams, and rail authorities.
Rail Credentials: Current Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card or eligibility to hold one.
What’s on Offer
Competitive Package: Highly competitive salary reflecting the seniority and expectations of the role.
Interstate Relocation Support: Full relocation assistance available for interstate applicants looking to relocate to the sunshine coast.
Lifestyle: Live and work near Queensland's Sunshine Coast, offering a great lifestyle balance working on a high-profile rail project.
At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
