About the Opportunity
Are you a detail-driven WHS professional looking to anchor your career on the Sunshine Coast?
We are delivering a major, long-term commercial new build development on the Sunshine Coast and are seeking a hands-on Safety Coordinator with exceptional documentation, auditing, and systems compliance capabilities to join our site delivery team. This is a multi-year project offering long-term job security, premier project exposure, and zero Brisbane commute.
The Team & Support Structure
You will not be working in a silo. You will be backed on-site daily and guided strategically by an experienced safety hierarchy:
Site-Based Mentorship: Work alongside a resident Site-Based Safety Advisor, sharing operational site walks, hazard profiling, and subbie engagement.
Strategic Leadership: Receive direct backing, resources, and technical governance from our Group Safety Manager.
Delivery Alignment: Collaborate with seasoned Project Managers, Site Managers, and Engineers who take compliance and site safety culture seriously.
Key Responsibilities
Auditing & Compliance Inspections: Coordinate and execute scheduled internal WHS audits, verify high-risk activities, track non-conformances, and drive corrective actions through to formal close-out.
Rigorous SWMS Reviews: Scrutinise, evaluate, and approve trade Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), lift studies, and permits to work, ensuring technical adequacy before works commence.
Systems & Document Control: Oversee the site WHS Management Plan, maintain accurate statutory registers, and ensure all site documentation satisfies Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC) and ISO 45001 standards.
WHS Data & Reporting: Collate high-integrity safety data, compile monthly project WHS compliance reports, and prepare audit-ready documentation for client and internal review.
Incident Documentation & Investigations: Assist the Safety Advisor with initial incident triage, factual evidence gathering, root-cause investigations, and regulatory record-keeping.
On-Site Engagement: Facilitate structured site inductions, coordinate toolbox sessions, and maintain practical compliance standards across all trade packages.
Candidate Requirements
Documentation & Audit Strength: Proven track record conducting internal site audits, reviewing technical trade SWMS, maintaining statutory registers, and running airtight WHS administrative systems.
Commercial Construction Background: 2–5+ years of WHS coordination experience on commercial builds or large new-build developments (Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment preferred).
Accreditation & Standards: Solid working knowledge of the QLD Work Health and Safety Act 2011; direct exposure to Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC) audit frameworks and ISO 45001 systems is highly regarded.
Location: Based on the Sunshine Coast (or genuinely relocating) for long-term project tenure.
Qualifications:
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum requirement); Diploma of WHS or Lead Auditor certification viewed favourably.
Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
