Are you passionate about sustainability, continuous improvement, and the circular economy? We are seeking a proactive and solution-focused Waste & Resource Recovery Officer to join our team.
In this dynamic Band 6 role, you will play a key part in designing, delivering, and managing innovative waste reduction programs, optimizing collection contracts, and helping transition our community toward a landfill-free future in alignment with State Government policy.
What You Will Do
...Drive Innovative Programs: Develop and roll out initiative-driven programs aimed at reducing waste, eliminating litter, and boosting recycling.
Manage Contracts & Data: Collate critical data for waste collection contracts, support transaction reconciliation, and assist with financial administration and budget reporting.
System & Process Improvement: Identify operational gaps, enhance records systems, and implement flexible, cost-effective waste workflows.
Empower & Train: Train team members on waste management systems, illegal dumping prevention, and database management.
Engage the Community: Build collaborative partnerships with contractors, residents, and government stakeholders while keeping digital channels (like our waste webpages) updated.
Who You Are
Qualified & Experienced: Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource/Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Education, or a related field (or equivalent substantial industry experience).
Problem Solver: Highly analytical with the ability to exercise professional judgment to solve complex operational challenges with limited guidance.
Tech & Data Savvy: Skilled in project management tools, waste contract systems, database management, and financial processing (e.g., MS Office, purchasing, and invoicing).
Strong Communicator: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement, and community consultation.
Licence: Holds a current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
