The Opportunity We are seeking an exceptionally skilled Project Manager (Civil) to join a major infrastructure delivery team shaping the future of the rapidly growing South Coast road network. Based in Nerang on the Gold Coast, this is a highly lucrative opportunity offering an initial 12-month full-time contract, with the potential for two further 12-month extension options. You will be rewarded with a highly competitive, all-inclusive hourly rate.
About the Role Operating within the Pre-Construction Delivery unit, you will take ownership of crucial infrastructure projects during their critical early phases. You will successfully steer projects from the completion of Business Cases and Scoping documents right through Preliminary and Detailed Design, culminating in Issue for Construction documentation.
This is a high-impact leadership role where your technical expertise will directly influence the time, quality, cost, and stakeholder satisfaction of major transport projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer comprehensive project delivery, including design oversight, tendering, procurement, and contract administration.
- Act as the official "Representative of the Principal" for the delivery of contracts across various project phases.
- Provide high-level engineering advice regarding planning, design options, material usage, and construction practices to guarantee best-practice outcomes and value for money.
- Drive the tendering process, including calling, assessing, and awarding contracts for pre-construction and construction projects.
- Exercise strong financial and commercial acumen to maintain strict project budgets, alongside providing accurate progress and expenditure reports.
- Identify, navigate, and manage complex networks of stakeholders, proactively handling expectations, high-risk issues, and political matters in a professional manner.
- Supervise resource allocation while fostering a positive, collaborative, and results-driven team environment.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all quality, environmental, legislative, and policy standards required for road infrastructure projects.
About You
To be successful in this senior role, you must possess the following mandatory qualifications and experience:
- A four-year Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) accredited under the Washington Accord or an equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Current and active registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
- A minimum of 15 years' proven experience in delivering transport infrastructure projects.
- A valid Class C driver's licence and an OH&S Construction Induction (White Card or equivalent).
- The ability to provide your own standard site PPE, including safety boots, 100% cotton long-sleeved shirt and trousers, and a hard hat with a wide brim attachment.
