About the Role
The Procurement Manager will report to the Director of Procurement and play a key role in leading the procurement and contracting program and team for Brisbane 2032. This position will be responsible for leading a team of Specialist and Officer roles to source a diverse range of goods and services across multiple industry sectors and categories. In addition, the role will direct the contract management support and advice to various functional areas of the organisation.
As part of a small but dedicated procurement team, the Procurement Manager will need to be hands-on, adaptable, and ready to contribute across a broad range of procurement activities. The role will take the lead in managing the day-to-day sourcing and contract management activities.
The role will include responsibility for directing and managing the Procurement Officer’s including setting work programs and individual development.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing end-to-end procurement leadership and operational support to all Brisbane 2032 functional areas.
- The role will lead procurement planning, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, as well as ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Manage work allocation and performance of the Specialist and Officer roles, including individual performance plans and regular feedback.
- All aspects of contract negotiation and drafting, working with the Legal team as required in relation to legal matters, to execute any approved contracts.
- Leading the advice to functional areas in contract management, including monitoring delivery, quality, costs and risks, preparing variations and extensions, managing disputes and closing out contracts.
- Directly managing as the Contract Holder, the contract performance for any contracts nominated to be managed by the Procurement functional area.
- Maintaining accurate records of all procurement activities, transactions, and contracts in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
- A strong team player, comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment that will scale into a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in relevant procurement functions.
- Demonstrated team leadership experience, or progression on this pathway with exceptional team and stakeholder management.
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to get into the detail, own tenders and contracts and support the team when the workload is high.
- Proven commercial acumen, with strong negotiation skills and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in contract management, including drafting, execution, and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with the Queensland Government Procurement Policy - advantageous but not essential
