A tier-one rail systems contractor delivering a landmark, multi-billion-dollar transit infrastructure program in Western Sydney is seeking an experienced OHW Project Engineer.
Working on a major greenfield rail alignment, you will lead the site planning, interfaces, and physical delivery of the Overhead Wiring (OHW) systems. This is an onsite delivery role reporting directly to the Installation Manager, overseeing installation work packages, civil-to-rail interfaces, and subcontractor performance through to testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Site Delivery & Package Management: Drive on-site installation activities across rigid, flexible, and retractable OHW packages, supervising site teams, subcontractors, and junior project engineers.
Interface Coordination: Manage critical construction access and handovers between civil infrastructure and rail systems contractors.
Look-Ahead & Scheduling: Own installation work packs and drive 4-week and 12-week look-ahead schedules in alignment with the master delivery program.
Quality & Technical Governance: Ensure compliance with ITPs, ITRs, NCR close-outs, RFIs, and configuration change processes.
Progress & Performance Reporting: Monitor tracked progress against baseline schedules (planned vs. actual), supporting commercial and schedule controls.
Health, Safety & Environment: Champion rail safety, zero-harm standards, and electrical network rules across all active workfronts.
Key Requirements
Technical Background: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant, equivalent discipline / substantial rail industry background).
Direct OHW Experience: 8+ years of proven delivery experience as a Project Engineer specialising in Overhead Wiring (OHW) installation and testing/commissioning on major rail networks.
Interface Management: Proven capability managing civil-to-rail handovers, subcontractor performance, and multi-disciplinary rail systems interfaces (traction power, track, signalling, civil).
Quality & Assurance: Sound understanding of rail system safety assurance, configuration management, and ITP/ITR processes.
Tools & Software: Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and document control/reporting workflows.
Site Readiness: Valid RIW (Rail Industry Worker) card, White Card, and Australian Driver’s Licence.
Operational Flexibility: Ability to support planned night shifts and weekend possessions when critical works require.
