About the Opportunity
Are you a fully qualified Carpenter with a knack for broad facilities maintenance and an eye for detail? We are seeking an experienced Facilities Officer (Carpenter) to manage and maintain a diverse portfolio of corporate, community, and recreational buildings across Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
This is a stable, 3-month contract offering a fantastic work-life balance with standard daytime hours and no weekend work. If you work well independently, possess strong multi-trade capabilities, and take pride in delivering top-tier maintenance services, this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Senior Facilities Officer, your day-to-day will involve a dynamic mix of planned maintenance, reactive fixes, and asset audits.
Service Delivery: Undertake a broad range of maintenance works on facilities, furniture, and structures. This includes high-precision carpentry, joinery, cabinet making, minor glazing, painting, plastering, locksmith adjustments, and tiling.
Inspections & Audits: Conduct scheduled building inspections and safety checks on plant/equipment using digital reporting platforms (such as Field Services and iAuditor).
Project Planning: Source, quantify, and purchase materials for small building projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and seamless delivery.
Contractor Liaison: Oversee and coordinate external contractors on-site to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.
WHS Compliance: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate on-site hazards to ensure a safe environment for staff, contractors, and the general public.
Who You Are
You are a motivated, self-managed tradesperson who can prioritize tasks effectively based on customer needs. You have excellent communication skills, allowing you to collaborate seamlessly with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Requirements & Qualifications:
Trade Background: Post-trades certificate in Carpentry and Joinery with a minimum of 2 years of experience in building construction or facilities maintenance.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of current Australian Building Standards and multi-trade building maintenance practices.
Safety Tickets: Current Construction Industry White Card and a Working at Heights ticket.
Compliance: A valid Victorian Driver’s Licence and a current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Tech Literacy: Comfortable using digital applications/tablets for logging work orders, audits, and asset reporting.
