About the Role
As the Kitchen Officer, you will oversee day-to-day kitchen operations and foster a safe, welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors. 15 hours per week Monday to Friday (casual).
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Menu Planning: Coordinate daily kitchen operations , develop suitable menus alongside volunteer cooks and manage stock control and ordering.
Volunteer Leadership: Roster, supervise, and support volunteer cooks, kitchen hands and waiting staff in the dining area.
Hands-On Support: Assist with food preparation and cooking as needed and monitor equipment maintenance and replacement needs.
Event Catering: Supervise and coordinate catering for workshops, special events and community programs in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.
Safety & Compliance: Oversee Work Health & Safety (WHS) for kitchen volunteers and manage Food Safety & Handling certification records and training.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To be considered for this temporary position, you must hold and provide evidence for the following:
Qualifications & Experience: An appropriate Certificate-level qualification paired with practical experience in kitchen management, OR an appropriate Certificate-level qualification with practical experience in the community sector.
Certifications & Licences:
Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
Current Mandatory ‘DoFoodSafety’ Certificate.
Current ‘Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set’ Certificate.
Current Driver Licence.
