This is a genuine hands-on technical leadership opportunity within a large, complex organisation's People & Culture technology team. You'll own the roadmap and delivery for a business-critical HCM platform, leading a small technical team while staying close to the tools yourself, not just managing vendors from a distance.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and develop a small team of HCM technical specialists and systems officers
- Own the technical roadmap, prioritisation and governance for the HCM platform
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across HCM APIs, extracts, integrations and Fast Formulas, particularly supporting payroll and recruitment/onboarding processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues where deep platform knowledge is essential, not just vendor escalation
- Drive automation, optimisation and reduction of technical debt across the platform
- Partner with PMO, architects and business stakeholders on upgrades, enhancements and data migrations
- Manage vendor and third-party support relationships in line with procurement frameworks
- Develop system policies, procedures and governance documentation
What we're looking for
- Hands-on technical expertise in Oracle HCM Cloud, including HCM API Management, HCM Extracts and Fast Formulas
- Experience with HCM Data Loader, OTBI, Oracle BI Publisher (BIP) and Visual Builder Studio
- Strong SQL skills and confidence configuring HCM system settings
- Genuine, demonstrable technical depth, this isn't a role where vendor management alone will cut it
- Leadership experience managing technical teams delivering IT services in a large, complex environment
- Familiarity with ITIL and/or Agile delivery approaches
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities under pressure
- Experience supporting payroll, recruitment or onboarding systems highly regarded
The details
- Permanent, full-time position
- Total package up to $175,500 inclusive of 17% superannuation (150k + Super)
- Based in West Melbourne, on-site 2-3 days per week
