The Business & Mandate
Our client is a national multi-site enterprise operating across major Australian commercial hubs. They are scaling fast, executing capital projects, and preparing for ongoing growth.
To support this expansion, the CEO requires a sharp, hands-on Financial Controller based in Sydney CBD to lead the national commercial, financial, and governance functions.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is not a passive corporate reporting job. You will sit at the center of commercial decision-making, building business cases, evaluating capital allocation, and establishing third-party audit frameworks to protect margins and directly drive bottom-line profit.
Simultaneously, you will maintain balance sheet integrity, give the CEO complete financial visibility across every national operating unit, and lead national process automation across the finance team.
Remit
Commercial Growth & Capital Strategy: Partner with the CEO and branch leaders to evaluate investments, build commercial business cases, and direct strategic capital allocation.
Margin Expansion & Profitability: Lead customer profitability analysis, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and work alongside operational managers to expand operating margins.
Cost Leadership & Productivity: Maintain disciplined cost control across all sites, challenge expenditure, and lead national productivity, digitalisation, and process improvement projects.
End-to-End Financial Operations: Own budgeting, forecasting, financial close, tax, audit, cash flow, working capital, banking, AR/AP, and Group reporting.
Complete Reporting Visibility: Deliver complete financial and operational transparency across all business units, ensuring the CEO and executive leadership have total reporting visibility.
Governance, Risk & ISO Systems: Direct internal control frameworks, regulatory compliance, risk management, legal governance, and ISO management systems.
Third-Party & Vendor Audits: Oversee vendor due diligence, audit third-party performance, manage registration lifecycles, and enforce contractual compliance frameworks.
Team Leadership & Strategic Projects: Lead, coach, and develop the national finance team while supporting organisational restructures, systems implementations, and site relocation initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: Qualified with a recognised professional accounting body (CA, CPA, ACCA, ACA, CMA, CIMA, or CGMA).
Leadership Track Record: Extensive finance leadership experience in a multi-site operational environment, directly supporting a CEO.
Commercial Experience: Direct experience in commercial business cases, cost control, customer profitability analysis, capital modelling, and third-party auditing.
Operational Background: Experience across supply chain, logistics, transport, freight, or multi-site operational sectors is highly regarded.
What’s on Offer
Direct executive partnership with the CEO.
High-growth, high-visibility seat driving ongoing growth, capital initiatives, and commercial strategy.
Salary package: $180,000 – $200,000 + Super.
Prime Sydney CBD location.
