About the Role
Are you a commercially minded landscape professional who wants true ownership over your work? Tired of estimating a job only to hand it off to a site team that mismanages it—or inheriting poorly priced tenders that you're expected to deliver on budget?
We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to lead commercial landscaping projects from tender stage through to practical completion. In this dual-function role, you won't deal with departmental silos or broken handovers. If you price it, you manage it . You will own the client relationship, control the project budget, direct site supervisors and subcontractors, and take the credit for margin growth and high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Construction & Estimating
... Tender Management: Review tender documents, conduct site inspections, and identify risks.
Detailed Pricing: Perform precise quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
Procurement & Negotiations: Obtain competitive subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Methodology & Scheduling: Develop construction methodologies and project programs.
Tender Submissions: Work alongside the tender writer and participate in client interviews to win profitable work.
2. Project Delivery & Administration
End-to-End Management: Lead procurement, material ordering, and site labour scheduling.
Site & Subcontractor Oversight: Manage site supervisors, trade crews, and subbies to ensure safety, quality, and program adherence.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, attending site meetings and building repeat business.
Financial & Contract Admin: Manage project budgets, forecast cash flow, process variations, issue progress claims, and manage final accounts.
Completion & Handover: Oversee practical completion, defect rectifications, and final handovers.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial landscape estimating and 5 years of commercial landscape project management in Australia (local South Australian market experience and networks are strongly preferred).
Proven Track Record: History of successfully and profitably delivering projects valued between $100k and $2M.
Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of civil works, irrigation, drainage, paving, structures, planting, and softscape installation. Strong knowledge of Australian Standards for landscaping.
Personal Attributes: Strong negotiator, calm under pressure, detail-oriented, decisive, and highly accountable.
Licenses & Qualifications
Why Apply?
Full Ownership: Complete autonomy over pricing and delivery.
Direct Reward for Performance: If you manage costs well and improve margins, your success is directly recognised.
Established Market Presence: Join a team delivering high-quality commercial projects with strong client connections.
