Randstad is searching for a skilled and accomplished Assistant Director, Cultural Safety Learning who possesses a keen eye for detail and excels in their field. This role requires the ability to build and sustain strong relationships. Our collaborative department is in need of an enthusiastic individual who embraces challenges and is committed to making a positive impact within community for the federal government sector.
About your new role
The Assistant Director, Cultural Safety Learning leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of tailored learning and capability development initiatives designed to foster cultural safety and improve service access for First Nations communities. Responsible for overseeing both facilitated and self-administered training programmes, the role advocates for responsive, strengths-based approaches that align with First Nations contexts rather than relying on one-size-fits-all corporate frameworks. The position provides high-level policy and strategic advice to senior executives through complex documentation like Ministerial briefs and committee papers, whilst actively managing enterprise risks, project milestones, and programme evaluation.
What you will need to exceed
...- Proven track record of building and maintaining trusted relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, Land Councils, and First Nations disability advocacy groups.
- The confidence and skill to challenge rigid, standardised corporate training systems that fail to align with First Nations contexts, successfully advocating for tailored solutions at senior executive levels.
- Expertise in applying non-tokenistic co-design frameworks that incorporate trauma-informed practice, strengths-based approaches, and local cultural protocols into adult learning programmes.
- Extensive experience in modern instructional design combining interactive, scenario-based learning with face-to-face facilitation, e-learning platforms, and micro-learning modules.
- A demonstrated ability to shift organisational culture away from "tick-box" compliance towards measurable, long-term behaviour change and practical workplace capability.
- Strong leadership skills to direct workloads, set priorities, and mentor junior team members (APS5–APS6) in a fast-paced environment.
Must have
- Must be an Australian Citizen
