Café Coordinator
Location: Willunga Golf Course Café / City of Onkaparinga
Position Type: Part-Time 30-38 hours (1 weekend fortnight + public holidays/after-hours events as required)

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and customer-focused Café Coordinator to run front- and back-of-house operations at the Willunga Golf Course café. Working one weekend every fortnight, you will lead the daily operations—from preparing delicious menu items using regional and on-site garden produce, to delivering top-tier barista coffee and overseeing casual staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Service: Coordinate day-to-day café operations, including opening and closing, food and beverage preparation, barista service, and maintaining spotless dining areas.
- Menu & Catering: Plan and prepare creative menus showcasing seasonal/regional produce and deliver catering for events and functions.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Direct, mentor, and support casual staff and volunteers in an encouraging, collaborative environment.
- Stock & Financials: Manage inventory ordering, stock rotation, and wastage control. Handle point-of-sale (POS) operations, cash balancing, and end-of-day banking reports within budget.
- Visitor Support: Assist with general visitor servicing, telephone enquiries, social media content, and administration during peak periods.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce Australian Food Safety Standards, maintain equipment, and adhere to Council WHS policies.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial kitchen food preparation, cooking, and barista-level coffee making.
- Demonstrated background in hospitality operations, stock management, and catering for large events.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers with strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Cash-handling experience and proficiency with POS software (e.g., H&L) and Microsoft Office.
- Food Safety Certificate.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Eligibility for a Responsible Person Position of Authority badge.
- Current South Australian Class "C" Driver’s Licence.
- Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and after-hours events.
Desirable Criteria
- Certificate qualification in Hospitality or Tourism.
- Local knowledge of the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast region.
- Prior experience in a government environment.
