About the Role We are seeking two exceptionally detail-oriented Digital & Print Editors / Proofreaders at the ASO5 level to join a fast-paced publishing team. To maintain operational continuity, successful candidates must be available to commit to the full duration of the contract period.
Reporting to the Project Lead, you will ensure that all educational curriculum, resources, and supporting documentation meet the highest standards of clarity, accuracy, and compliance before publication.
Key Responsibilities
Publishing Editorial: Edit and proofread complex curriculum documents, educational resources, and supporting materials tailored for both digital and print channels.
Quality Assurance: Guarantee that all published content is clear, accurate, structurally consistent, and strictly aligned with government and departmental publishing standards.
Author Collaboration: Work closely with subject matter experts to refine technical or educational materials while carefully preserving the original authorial intent.
Style Compliance: Apply rigorous style guides, editorial benchmarks, and government accessibility conventions across high volumes of documentation.
Workflow Management: Manage multiple documents concurrently, tracking changes meticulously to meet tight, competing project deadlines.
What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful in this position, you must bring:
Professional Editing Expertise: Demonstrated experience in professional editing and proofreading with a flawless command of grammar, spelling, and plain English principles.
Technical Proficiency: Essential, advanced expertise using Microsoft Word (specifically Track Changes) and Microsoft Teams. Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and digital accessibility requirements is highly desirable.
Cognitive Agility: The ability to quickly comprehend complex educational or technical content and adapt it for diverse audiences without losing core meaning.
Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contributors.
Workload Management: Exceptional attention to detail paired with the organisational skills required to balance high-volume workloads and shifting priorities.

Work Status: Applicants must hold current, valid Australian work eligibility status.
Clearances: You must hold or be willing to obtain a valid National Police Clearance alongside a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Commitment: Full availability for the entirety of the specified contract period is essential.
