About the Role
...
Our client is a QLD government organisation based in the Brisbane CBD. They are currently seeking an AO5 Finance Officer to come in and work with them on a 3 month temp assignment with potential for extension or permanency.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or similar
- Proven experience with Technology One/TechOne system (Essential)
- Experience with Expense Me system (Desirable, not essential)
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Operations & Processing: Manage end-to-end day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable cycles, accounts receivable, debtor collection, and entitlement payments in line with policy, internal controls, and delegations.
- Month-End & Ledger Management: Prepare accurate monthly accrual accounting entries and perform complete reconciliations for bank accounts, payables, receivables, and general ledger accounts.
- Taxation & Compliance Reporting: Prepare, review, and submit statutory returns including GST Business Activity Statements (BAS), superannuation returns, and fringe benefits tax (FBT) to ensure full compliance.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and assist in preparing statutory financial statements in accordance with Queensland Treasury Reporting guidelines and relevant accounting standards.
- Team Supervision & Development: Supervise, direct, and train subordinate accounting staff while managing performance reviews and professional growth under the organisational performance framework.
- Governance & Process Improvement: Develop, update, and maintain robust financial accounting procedures, registers, and operational controls.
