randstad join forces with Yarn'n to create more job opportunities to australians

2 March 2017 – HR and recruitment specialists Randstad and professional Aboriginal employment services provider Yarn’n have joined forces to provide a minimum of 100 openings to Aboriginal people into employment through the alliance.

The alliance was launched in Sydney last night and will see the two organisations working closely together to identify and secure job opportunities in NSW and the ACT.

Randstad Australia & New Zealand CEO Frank Ribuot believes that this is an important step in encouraging diversity in the workplace.

“Australia is a country with a rich and diverse history and Indigenous Australians play an important role in shaping this nation and contributing to its social and economic prosperity,” said Mr Ribuot.

“We’re incredibly proud to be a part of this initiative, which aims to bring real change through employment opportunities.

“Our partnership with Yarn’n combines their insights around the indigenous community with our recruitment expertise to help deliver sustainable employment. All participants will undergo tailored training and development programs which are designed to give them the best chance at success.”

The roles created through the partnership will include entry-level through to senior positions across a broad range of industries. The program has already seen six Indigenous Australians placed in new roles since January.

The announcement comes shortly after the 2017 Closing the Gap report highlighted growing inequality between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, with a lack of employment prospects being a significant barrier.

“A look at the recent Closing the Gap report highlights some entrenched disadvantages faced by Indigenous Australians,” Mr Ribout said

“However, the employment gap between Indigenous Australians and non-Indigenous Australians with a university degree demonstrates that something as simple as entry into the workforce can be a huge factor in increasing a person’s quality of life.

“Businesses and organisations across the country have an important role to play in the employment and retention of Indigenous Australians and we look forward to working with Yarn’n on this very important partnership,” said Mr Ribuot.

The Randstad and Yarn’n program is supported by organisations including the New South Wales Government and Westpac.
