The roles created through the partnership will include entry level through to senior positions across a broad range of industries. The program has already seen six Indigenous Australians placed in new roles since January.
The announcement comes shortly after the 2017 Closing the Gap report highlighted growing inequality between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, with a lack of employment prospects being a significant barrier.
“A look at the recent Closing the Gap report highlights some entrenched disadvantages faced by Indigenous Australians,”
“However, the employment gap between Indigenous Australians and non-Indigenous Australians with a university degree demonstrates that something as simple as entry into the workforce can be a huge factor in increasing a person’s quality of life.
