We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join the financial operations and reporting requirements for a federal government organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Assistant Director Financial Accounting and will be responsible for preparing monthly accounts, compliance reporting, and managing various financial transactions and reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Assistant Director Financial Accounting with financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare monthly accounts and input data into CBMS, including PBS/PAES/MYEFO briefings.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements and supplementary reporting.
- Ensure compliance reporting and handle ad-hoc information requests.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including data posting and record-keeping.
- Resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
- Accurately capture and process monthly transactions, journals, and adjustments.
- Reconcile complex transactions and ensure all general ledger accounts are verified and reconciled monthly.
- Follow up and clear reconciling items as per the month-end timetable.
- Reconcile sundry accounts receivable and generate invoices when necessary.
- Prepare and lodge all statutory and external returns and disclosures.
- Review GST, BAS, annual FBT, and TPAR.
- Complete mandatory training programs as required.
Requirements:
- Strong experience in financial accounting and reporting.
- Strong experience with TechnoloygOne and CiAnywhere
- Proficiency in preparing financial statements and compliance reports.
- Excellent bookkeeping and data management skills.
- Ability to resolve accounting discrepancies and reconcile accounts.
- Knowledge of GST, BAS, FBT, and TPAR processes.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- CPA/CA certification required
- Must be an Aus Citizen and be willing to acquire baseline security clearance
