We are seeking a candidate who can play a pivotal role in the Events Team in a Federal government agency on the Gold Coast. As the Senior Events Officer, you will be at the forefront of event planning and organisation, playing a crucial role in shaping Agency’s presence in industry summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums. With a focus on delivering exceptional experiences, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align event objectives with the Agency’s goals, ensuring that each event serves as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and engagement.

Duties:
- Manage the planning and organising of events, including summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums.
- Advocate for best practice accessibility at the events to ensure all attendees have equal participation.
- Create event briefing packs, run pre-briefing, and post event meetings.
- Collaborate with different teams, including communication, marketing, and policy, to ensure events effectively engage relevant stakeholders.
- Responsible for developing project plans, monitoring progress, and coordinating with a cross-functional team to ensure smooth execution.
- Accountable for monitoring event budgets, tracking expenditure, and ensuring financial resources are allocated appropriately.
- Engage with event service providers, negotiates contracts, and manages relationships to secure necessary resources and services.
- Assessing and mitigating risk associated with events
- Identify potential risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations and health and safety standards.
- Responsible for post-event management, gathering feedback from attendees, preparing comprehensive reports, analysing data, identifying areas and improvement, and providing recommendations for future events.
Key skills/experience required:
- Positive contemporary attitudes to people with disability, high level understanding and knowledge of disability, and its impact on individuals.
- Relevant experience in event coordination, preferably in a large organisation setting.
- Strong digital experience in managing virtual as well as hybrid events
- Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers.
- Budget management experience.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and management, ensuring events comply with relevant regulations and policies.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks.
- Able to negotiate effectively by listening to differing ideas and views to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive counterarguments.
- Risk Assessment and Management experience
- Experience working with MS Teams in a digital event environment
This is a 12 month opportunity located in Robina paying $60.26/hour plus super.
