Early Voting Issuing Officer/Customer Service Officer/Call Centre Officer
(positions involving issuing votes and dealing with electors in person or over the telephone)

Randstad have partnered up with The Western Australian Electoral Commission to support their recruitment needs for the March 2021 election. There are a wide range of casual roles and opportunities to work before and after the Election Day.

Issuing votes at early voting centres or at the vote casting call centre. Includes voter customer service and stakeholder liaison (including queue control at EVCs); marking electors off the electronic roll or using the telephone assisted voting computerised and telephony system; reconciling ballot paper stocks and other resources; assisting as required with other duties.

Dates: Commencing mid-February through to 13th March; may include work outside of normal business hours

Selection Requirements:

  • Computer literacy skills, numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions precisely and consistently follow set procedures/repetitive tasks
  • Reasonable mobility skills to manage queues of people at EVCs
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Able to contribute as a member of a small team
  • Capacity to work flexible in hours of work, which may include weekend or outside normal business hours
  • Past electoral experience is desirable for these positions but certainly not essential
  • Willing to carry out hygiene duties where required - wipe down surface and touch points.

Clerical and Non-Computer Based Administration/Count Table Staff Staff/Envelope Processing

A range of clerical and general admin support tasks at the Processing Centres; including sorting and processing postal votes, counting ballot papers, checking and sorting declaration votes. Roles do not require the regular use of a computer.

Dates: Starting times and duration's vary across functional areas; commencing from early February and extend through to early April 2021

Selection Requirements:

  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to understand and comply strictly with directions given, without variation when performing repetitive tasks
  • Willingness to undertake whatever tasks are required - some will involve a degree of manual work, eg. sorting, stacking, handling and lifting of bulk materials (individually up to 8 kilos)
  • Reasonable fine motor skills to accurately count and sort ballot papers or other materials
  • Willing to carry out hygiene duties where required - wipe down surface and touch points.

These roles require strict political neutrality. Any person who is, and is seen to be, active in political affairs, and intends to carry on this activity publicly, cannot be considered for these positions.
