PROJECT OVERVIEW:

This Project was created to enhance existing technology that is over 10 years old. Whilst it is not at a critical point, it has reached the logical point in its lifecycle where a major redesign and modernisation process needs to occur. With this will be a redesign process for the ‘presentation layer’, and this will play a major role in how the future system is utilised and viewed by all the various end user groups. A separate sub‐project will be established to focus specifically on the end‐user experience with particular focus and emphasis on ensuring the yet to be designed end product is fit for purpose and is actually what the end user base needs and wants. As a result of this, there will be significant stakeholder engagement to ensure the project effectively captures the requirements of our end user base. The success criteria, amongst other factors, will be based largely on this.

Lastly, as this is an enterprise‐wide initiative, far reaching governance requirements will need to be addressed to ensure the designs and overall end solutions meet departmental and state best of practice requirements.

POSITION OVERVIEW & SKILL SET:

The project team requires a skilled UX/UI (User Experience/User Interface) resource, experienced in redesigning large enterprise‐wide systems with multiple personas and geographically dispersed end users spread across the state, to redesign the UX/UI requirements of a future system.

The project requires one skilled dedicated UX/UI resource to be available five days per week over a six month period with the possibly of a six month extension.

Services may include:

  • Facilitation of extensive workshops in collaboration with the dedicated Organisation Change Manager (OCM) with end‐users to create industry standard valued front‐end pages and UX/UI design patterns
  • Requirements gathering, verification and documentation of user experience requirements
  • Create, improve and use wireframes, personas, industry standards and user scenarios to communicate ideas
  • Construction / Updating of Functional Design Documents
  • Test the updated UX/UI with users to validate UX/UI recommendations, improve processes and increase integration of functionality and capability.
  • Lead the UX/UI design and planning processes whilst working in close partnership with the in‐house developers during the build, testing and deployment stages and provide support as required
  • Provide architectural expertise as required

The UX/UI Specialist role for the project:

  • Engages with very diverse stakeholder base and ensure all layers of the organisation are consulted whilst reaming within the reporting structures and governance requirements of the Project
  • Collaborates with Project Team members
  • Advises Branch stakeholders
  • Reports to Project Manager
  • Provide architectural expertise as required
  • Provision of both onsite and remote access to technical resources as required

Demonstrates experience at wireframing, prototyping and mocking up web applications, with the following skills:

  • Bootstrap
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • jQuery

Demonstrates knowledge of web content accessibility guidelines (WCAGs)

Demonstrable skills and experience with the following:

  • AngularJS
  • NET MVC

Demonstrates an understanding of user‐centred design (UCD) viewpoints:

  • Visibility
  • Accessibility
  • Legibility
  • Language

Demonstrates oral and written communication skills

  • Understands business and design requirements
  • Has a high‐level understanding of technical specifications
  • Can write design documentation

Demonstrates the ability to work as a team and independently

  • Displays personal drive and integrity
  • Meets deadlines
  • Supports strategic direction by identifying issues that require attention

Animation Development

  • Develops conceptual structures into design blueprints, typically using tools such as interaction diagrams and wireframes, to create high‐level structures and runtime architectures for websites.
  • Manages iterations of level design and storytelling, documenting overall flow and architecture of a game or similar system.
