Allen Jack+Cottier is looking for experienced urban designers to join our team of over 80 design professionals in Chippendale, Sydney.

The AJ+C Urban Design team combines the type of intimate involvement and project responsibility typical of a small studio with the opportunities for career advancement of a large firm. They work at scales ranging from a single city block to neighbourhoods covering hundreds of hectares. AJ+C have prepared master plans for the Bays Precinct (White Bay to Blackwattle Bay), Central to Eveleigh, Kensington to Kingsford Urban Activation Precinct, Melrose Park, Camellia and many more. Our Blackwattle Bay urban framework with Sydney Fish Markets Reference Scheme was awarded the World Future Master Plan of the Year and World Future Project of the Year at last year’s World Architecture Festival, adding to a number of accolades for our urban design work. They are working on some fantastic projects for public and private clients and have a number of exciting opportunities ahead.


Assist in all design and delivery tasks for major Urban Design Projects, including:

  • Built form, street layout and public realm design;
  • Feasibility studies from back-of-the-envelope through to implementation;
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis;
  • Preparation of reports, drawings and presentations.


  • Qualification in Architecture required;
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience post-graduation, including in specific urban design roles;
  • Qualifications in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning as ll as Green Star (or equivalent) certifications desirable.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a collaborative team environment;
  • Strong graphic, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fully proficient in Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign.
  • Grasshopper and Revit skills desirable.
