Our client, a specialist electrical engineering consultancy is looking to recruit a Transmission Lines Civil/Structural Engineer for a permanent opportunity in their Adelaide Offices. This rare and exciting opportunity is the product to organic growth; this business has a strong and stable pipeline of work. The organisation has a footprint across the Asia, Australia, North America and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design of new, and analysis of existing, transmission lines using first principal techniques and computer modelling in PLS-CADD, covering: multiple alignments and alignment changes; SAPS analysis; structure spotting and line optimisations; section stringing and sagging; construction documentation, including dynamic stringing; and design reporting and analysis of PLS-CADD output
  • Preparation of design reports
  • Apply academic learning to the workplace environment
  • Undertake technical investigations and problem solving
  • Participate in project teams to achieve work outcomes
  • Preparation of detailed scopes, estimates & documents associated with tendering and contract administration
  • Provide design calculation for transmission line projects, prepare design reports, analysis and research on relevant issues as directed
  • Undertake professional and personal development to complement on job learning
  • Carry out duties in accordance with client’s safety, environmental and quality policy, safety principles, corporate values and strategies
  • Undertake liaison and/or consultation with external stakeholders as necessary to complete the design works
  • Undertake technical inspections of structures, formations and other civil / structural elements of a project as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Accredited degree in civil/structural engineering
  • Experienced in standard civil and structural engineering packages for power systems such as PLS-CADD, TOWER and PLS POLE
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus
  • Holder of a current Australian Driver’s License Class “C” or “C-A”
