Are you an experienced Trainer or Technical Writer with a background in complex control systems looking for a pivotal role in a major, long-term transformation?
A leading Queensland-based energy utilities organisation is undertaking a generational leap towards a modern network operations capability. This is a significant program, replacing their core Energy Management System (EMS) with an Advanced EMS (AEMS). We are seeking a dedicated NGNO Trainer to join the team on a 12-month contract.
The Opportunity
As the NGNO Trainer, you will play a key role in driving the adoption and readiness of new systems for operational staff. Working within the Change Enablement stream, you will collaborate closely with technical experts, BAs, and SMEs to translate complex system information into clear, engaging, and accurate learning materials.
This role offers the chance to apply your instructional design expertise to highly critical, sophisticated Operational Technology systems, ensuring the workforce is fully equipped for a successful transition.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
... Content Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality learning resources (courses, work instructions, simulations, reference guides) for new complex software systems.
Technical Interpretation: Review and synthesise technical documentation (User Stories, Wikis, Vendor materials) to create effective training content.
Collaboration: Work with Training Analysts, Business Trainers, Product Owners, and SMEs to align training solutions with business needs and project objectives.
Delivery Support: Package content for various delivery methods (face-to-face, online) and support Train-the-Trainer activities and post-go-live 'hypercare'.
Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to documentation practices to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
Essential Skills and Experience
Training/Technical Writing Expertise: Proven experience producing learning and support documentation for complex software systems, applying strong instructional design and adult learning principles (e.g., ADDIE).
Industry Knowledge: Experience with SCADA, EMS, or similar control systems within the energy or utilities sector is essential.
Technical Fluency: Ability to interpret and write about technical content from multiple development sources (User Stories, Wikis, code walkthroughs).
Tooling: Strong documentation skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with platforms like Azure DevOps or Confluence.
Attention to Detail: Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to manage documentation lifecycles across multiple Agile sprints.
