TRADEPERSON ELECTRICIAN

LIMITED TENURE ROLE

BASED IN PORT PIRIE

THE CLIENT

Our Client is a leading global multi-metals company, producing significant quantities of essential resources - zinc and lead, as well as other metals such as silver, gold and copper. They have mining and smelting operations located in Europe, North America and Australia and employs approximately 4,100 people.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Tradeperson Electrician is responsible for electrical maintenance and repair of industrial plant and equipment. They assist the company to achieve environmental, quality and production targets. Tradeperson Electricians may be engaged on Day Work, Continuous Shift Work or Shift Relief.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

Plant Maintenance

  • Installation, modification and commissioning of new plant and equipment, in conjunction with Engineering.
  • Perform planned maintenance, equipment inspections, scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Perform modification work to existing plant machinery and equipment,
  • Undertake fault finding on PLC and SCADA Systems
  • Perform High Voltage switching operations.
  • Work in a safe manner and comply with all site safety procedures
  • Other duties as required
  • Work area management including ensuring that there are adequate standards of housekeeping, hygiene, fume and dust suppression
  • Report all hazards and maintenance requests.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Formal trade qualifications in Electrical or Electrical/Instrumentation (minimum Certificate III)
  • Current electrical work unrestricted EWR (A class licence) that conforms to SA or Australian legislation
  • High voltage training a requirement for Continuous Shift and Shift Relief positions
  • Experience in the mining/resources industry or similar
  • Demonstrated experience with PLC control systems and electronic variable speed drives.
  • Possess a working knowledge of AS3000 wiring rules
  • Possess good fault finding skills and be confident to take leadership when required
  • Working knowledge of the SAP system is desirable
  • Ability to use electronic reporting and email systems
