We are currently looking to recruit a NBN/Fibre Designer to join a leading EPC who specialize in Telecommunication Projects. These positions have been created due to an influx of work related to the delivery on Adelaide’s NBN. Working within an established team of engineers this is the perfect role for a graduate to develop their skills is a very niche area. This position will commence on a long-term casual contract; with excellent hourly rates. Located on Adelaide's city fringe.

Reporting to the Design manager you will be responsible for new development design’s end-to-end delivery which include details design. You will be expected to carry out the following duties and key responsibilities:

  • End-to-end delivery services including Detail Design in SpatialNet, FIR, Construction Plans, Project Costing (BOM/BOQ), As-Built & defects as per the NBN Co specified guidelines.
  • Accountability for the on-time delivery, cost and quality of all designs.
  • Work closely with the Construction Team, Land Access Team, Surveyors and Field Supervisors to ensure project priorities are being met and issues are being addressed.
  • Provide recommendations and streamline processes to improve the day to day operations within the group.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to manage design objections and co-ordinate accordingly.
  • Working closely with the Team Lead and Project Manager on any variations and contractual notices associated with the completion of design activities.
  • Be responsive and flexible to dynamic client demands and needs within NBN Co, but maintain a focus on protecting VPL's commercial interests.
  • Implement and maintain 'safety in design' protocols.

Skills and Experiences:

  • A minimum of 3 years of fibre design experience
  • Excellent user of AutoCAD
  • Experience using SpatialNET – Advantageous
  • Insights to technology adoption and benefits
  • Strong customer empathy and communications skills
  • Demonstrated work experience on the NBN network highly desirable
  • Thorough understanding of access network design principles, industry standards and installation practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of organisational and prioritising skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • MUST reside and hold full working rights in Australia
