... Position Overview:
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Technical Claims Specialist to join their in-house claims team. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of technical travel insurance claims in line with issued policies. As a key member of the claims team, you will play a crucial role in optimising claim costs while ensuring the highest standards of service delivery. You’ll collaborate with the team to provide guidance on travel claim decisions and assist in resolving complex cases, particularly those involving vulnerable customers or financial hardship.
Key Deliverables:
- Assess and manage high-cost claims within the terms of underwritten travel insurance policies, from assistance to finalisation.
- Make approval or declinature decisions on active cases within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide expert advice to claimants, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and empathetically throughout the claims process.
- Reviewing clients' situations individually and assess cases in order to ensure the right level of coverage of insurance is provided.
- Review individual cases to ensure the appropriate level of insurance coverage and apply a strong understanding of claims assessment rules and relevant legislation.
- Communicate clearly and solution-focused with customers, while supporting colleagues on technical claim matters and upholding company values.
Role Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of insurance claims, with a strong preference for experience in travel or health insurance. General insurance experience, particularly in handling major loss claims valued at $100K and above, is highly regarded.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Insurance Contracts Act, Privacy Act, GICOP, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to interpret underwriting procedures and relevant policy wordings accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse technical and investigation reports to make sound business decisions.
- Proficient multitasking skills, with effective system navigation, PC literacy, and experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
