Randstad is currently working with a well-known government organisation to find a Systems Analyst/Programmer for a 3 month contract with a likely extension. This organisation contributes to Queensland's growing economy and has an excellent staff culture and working environment.

The Role:

In this role, you are required to use your expertise to develop application, maintain and enhance the department's application, and its associated system and interfaces. You will need to innovate and take initiative to deliver the solution. his department is moving to SCRUM methodology for their system development so you will need to operate in your core role as well as cross-skill to help out with other activities.


  • Implement software development solutions for the business system, focusing on coding and unit testing from technical design specifications. (Programming/software development)
  • Solve technical problems using your knowledge and skills to develop suitable application solutions that support business needs.
  • Liaise with Business Analysts to communicate technical solutions in a logical manner to system problems and develop the associated technical design specifications and documentation. (Problem Management)
  • Analyse production incidents and business enquiries to provide sound advice and recommendations to business representatives.
  • Perform routine and/or basic data analysis tasks to satisfy ad hoc reporting requirements.
  • Undertake preliminary research and analysis of in-house development and external software products to make sound recommendations to the Senior Systems Analyst / Programmer on potential development opportunities.
  • Maintain effective communications skills to cooperate and assist other team members in an open and professional working environment.
  • Identify and report on potential opportunities for improvement to software and systems development standards and methodologies
  • Interact and cooperate with other team members with analysis, design, implementation and unit testing of system changes in a team environment that promotes the multi-skilling of team members across the analysis, development, database design and administration, testing and operational support areas

Necessary Requirements:

  • PL/SQL (minimum 5 years experience)
  • Oracle Designer, Forms and Reports (minimum 2 years experience)
  • Oracle Databases (minimum 5 years experience)
  • UNIX / Shell scripting (desirable)
  • Web services, XML, PHP, MYSQL (highly desirable)
