Randstad are partnering with a large well-known state Government department and are looking for 1 x Systems Administrator for a long-term contract starting ASAP. The System Administrator will work closely with the ‘Environment Stand-up team’ to configure the Enterprise Integration Platform ready for Technical Go-Live, before providing business-as-usual support and monitoring of the EIP. You will have the ability to interact with people at all levels; will exercise sound judgement, initiative, and confidentiality in the performance of duties.


  • Identify and resolve critical incidents and issues, perform root cause analysis and deliver pragmatic technical solutions to problems;
  • Troubleshoot problems across the stack; hardware, software, application and network;
  • Ensure all requests and incidents are prioritised and actioned accordingly;
  • Develop and maintain operational knowledge and configuration;
  • Ensure relevant SLA’s are met and policies and procedures are followed;
  • Liaise with third parties such as vendors, service providers etc. as required; and
  • Assist in other Interoperability activities as required.

About you

  • 2-3 years’ experience with enterprise environments;
  • Minimum 5+ years working as a Linux System Administrator (RHEL 6.x, 7.x);
  • Cloud (IaaS, PaaS) and Virtualisation technologies (VMware etc.);
  • Relational database concepts (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.);
  • Networking Protocols and Products (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, HTTP/S);
  • Network technologies (Firewall, Routing, Switching and Load Balancing);
  • Microsoft Server technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, Security etc.);
  • Collaborative approach to working with strong technical and communication skills; and
  • Positively contribute to the culture of the team through active participation in meetings and being supportive to colleagues and assist project realise goals.

Desirable Skills

  • Relevant industry certifications including Red Hat, VMware, Microsoft and Cisco
  • Understanding of containers deployment technologies (Docker etc.)
  • Understanding of deployment and infrastructure configuration tools (Puppet etc.)
  • Experience managing JIRA tickets, experience with Puppet
