Randstad Recruitment is proud to partner with a Queensland Government department who manages the transport systems and infrastructure across the state.

In your role as a Survey Assistant, you will be tasked with providing efficient and effective survey technical services

Duties include:

• Assisting the surveyor in field surveys including the compilation of and storage/recording and set-out of spatial data
• Assisting in applying modelling techniques to meet project requirements
• Assisting in undertaking basic data processing operations
• Providing technical support to the Surveyor on survey projects using your technical knowledge, expertise, and leadership you will contribute to all relevant activities to achieve successful competition of projects in scope, time, quality, cost and Stakeholder expectations.

Accountabilities include:

• Apply contemporary project management and survey principals, relevant to your level of experience and expertise
• Assist in the application of all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the surveying of road infrastructure projects
• Contribute to a safe work site by applying risk management principals and following OH&S procedures
• Under the direction of the Surveyor, work as part of a team on surveys required for road infrastructure projects
• Under supervision set up and operate survey equipment such as EDME and GPS
• Work within the departments systems including project documentation, quality assurance and archiving and retrieving data as directed
• Participate in training and development in association with the Graduate Surveyors and Cadet Technologists on standards, work practices, processes, and survey techniques to ensure value for money and best practice are achieved
• Actively participate in process improvement.
• Maintain effective liaison and communication with the surveyor and the survey team on all matters relating to the execution of the survey
• Assist in analysing, interpreting, and reporting on data from the systems using appropriate reporting and software presentation tools
• Assist in the interpretation of image data

Skills & Experience:

• Current First Aid and CPR training
• Open drivers license and white card required

It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives.
