About the Role

The Surveillance Officer will manage activities carried out on site whilst maintaining detailed site records of work performed. This role is based in Western Sydney working on a major infrastructure project for state government.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage routne surveillance activities across a broad range of projects and maintain detailed records of work performed and construction activities
  • Conduct safety and environmental management and risk assessments and safe work method statement reviews to ensure that work is completed in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner
  • Participate in the assessment of contract documentation such as: Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS); Environmental Management Plans (EMP); Environmental Work Method Statements; Traffic Management Plans (TMP); Traffic Contol Plans (TCP) and other planning documentation to ensure that contract documentation is accurate and robust
  • Assess and report on the implementation of plans on site and on contractor performance
  • Assist the Project/Contract Manager in ensuring the consistent application of surveillance across the region by planning programs of surveillance of quality, WHS, traffic management and environmental management and monitoring progress of works
  • Coordinate the site activity of contractors and public authorities
  • Assist Project/Contract Managers in planning programs of surveillance, including the identifiaction and review of non-conformance issues

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in Contract Administration of road and/or bridge works, including demonstrated knowledge of the safety and environmental issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with road, bridge and/or construction and maintenance works such as piling, concrete work, precasting, prestressing, pavements, etc.
  • Experience in planning and implementing surveillance of quality, WHS, traffic management and environmental managment and in monitoring and assessing compliance against standards, policy and practices
  • Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of contract documents, drawings, plans and specifications
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and contribute to joint outcomes
