Statutory Planning Officer forms part of a multi-disciplinary professional team principally responsible for the orderly and proper development and/or redevelopment.

Main duties: ...

To ensure planning applications and related matters are professionally, efficiently and comprehensively processed and implemented.
To clearly convey and comprehensively explain to the public and business sector the Town Planning Scheme, policies and local laws of the City and decisions made by the Council.
To provide Council and the City with specialist knowledge and advice on the methods, techniques, preparation and implementation of statutory matters.
Assess, report and make recommendations to management / Council on complex subdivision applications, development applications, structure plans, rezoning applications / Scheme amendments.

Role requirements:

Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent qualification which is recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia.
Relevant work experience in Planning in Local or State Government or private practice.
Extensive knowledge of Planning and related legislation in WA including the Planning and Development Act and associated Regulations, the Environmental Protection Act, the Metropolitan Region Planning Scheme, Local Planning Schemes and procedures in relation to the above.
Extensive knowledge of the principles and practice of Urban and Regional Planning.
Well-developed planning and analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex planning issues and applications.
Ability to critically apply independent judgement to the assessment of scientific and environmental reports and to prepare forward planning policy and guidelines consistent with such analysis.
Possession of Current C Class Drivers Licence.
Possession of or ability to obtain a current National Police Certificate.
