About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Planning & Reporting, the Statutory Accountant will manage STC’s financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. You will oversee month-end and year-end processes, drive improvements in financial controls, and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and government departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee month-end and year-end financial processes, including managing the general ledger.
- Finalise financial reporting systems and ensure compliance with accounting standards and government frameworks.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on financial accounting and reporting.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including VAGO compliance work.
- Lead annual reporting and audit management.
- Develop policies and procedures as the organisation grows.
Key Requirements:
- CA/CPA qualified with strong financial and government reporting experience.
- Senior-level understanding of financial accounting.
- Experience managing audits, financial compliance, and working with external stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Public sector or state government experience is highly preferred, but senior private sector candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
- Ability to work independently and drive new projects.
