Government owned organisation seeking Software Licensing Officer
Short term initial contract - high possibility for extension
Brisbane CBD based

The purpose of this role is to provide the necessary support of complex software licensing models, for the effective management, control and protection of the Departments software assets in accordance with legislation, Queensland Government and Information Technology Services policy. You will contribute to, and work part of a team, and actively support the Information Technology Services branch in the delivery of timely and high quality client services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of complex licensing models in a rapidly changing environment, and interpret and apply Software Asset Management policies and third party licensing terms and conditions in a software licensing environment
  • Perform software licence purchasing activities in line with Queensland Procurement policy and procedures, maintain software asset registers and definitive software library in accordance with ITIL’s Software Asset Management Framework
  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of licence data collected meets contemporary standards and disseminate information particularly in relation to software licensing and the Software Asset Management Policy
  • Perform regular maintenance of data and systems required for software licence management
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of effective software asset management service improvement processes
  • Utilise software asset management tools
  • Liaise with external vendors to ensure quality service for internal clients
  • Achieve defined service levels in a customer focussed ICT service environment by responding to customer requests.

How you will be assessed

  • The ideal applicant will demonstrate the following key attributes as they apply to the key responsibilities of the role:
  1. Demonstrated knowledge of software asset management best practice to reduce software licence compliance risk and the ability to support the control of software assets, including the administration of the acquisition, storage, distribution, movement and disposal of assets
  2. Knowledge of Software Asset Management tools, as well as SAP purchasing and requisitioning and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  3. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the production of registers and histories of authorised assets (including secure master copies of software, documentation, data, licences and agreements for supply, warranty and maintenance), and store these assets in a known state and location
  4. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and resolve moderately complex day to day issues and the ability to support complex risk based audits
  5. Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare instructions, reports and system documentation in a customer-focused ICT service environment
  6. Proven ability to work in a team environment, developing effective working relationships with internal and external clients, team members and stakeholders
