job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Social Media and Content Manager to join the team delivering Sydney’s new airport, Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.

Supporting the General Manager – External Affairs and Communication and the wider Corporate Affairs team, the Social Media and Content Manager is responsible for preparing and delivering innovative and industry-leading social media content to positively build social licence and support for the project among the community and stakeholders. The successful applicant will be responsible for setting and executing the social media strategy, including managing channels, producing content and managing social media communities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Use digital video, image and audio production tools to develop, produce and edit highly engaging content to tell WSA’s stories, communicate the project’s benefits and engage audiences
  • Maintain a focus on reputation while managing social media communities to drive positive engagement
  • Monitor trends in social and digital media trends and tools to ensure a cutting-edge understanding of best practice. Demonstrate innovation in evolving WSA’s social media strategy to take advantage of new developments and emerging audiences.
  • Employ social and digital monitoring tools to provide insights into community and stakeholder sentiment and expectations

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or strong proven digital and social media communication experience
  • Strong technical proficiency in digital content production, with strong capabilities in digital video and photography production and editing, including proficiency working with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience managing social media communities in a high-profile, issues rich environment, aligning communications to wider issues management and messaging frameworks
  • Superior engagement, collaboration and interpersonal skills with the capability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated high level of analysis, problem solving skills and forward thinking
  • An ability to cope with ambiguity and remain resilient, flexible and outcomes-focussed in a high-pressure environment
