The civil contractor is one of Australia's leading Tier 2 construction companies and due to continued growth, is seeking a Site Engineer to be a part of the successful delivery of key projects in NSW.

The first project you will be appointed to is based near the Blue Mountains in NSW, the project duration is a year and a half. You will be working on a major water project worth c$100m. After this project is completed the contractor have a strong order book closer to Sydney which is why they are seeking someone from Sydney.

You will need to stay in the accommodation provided Monday to Friday with travel and food paid for on top of the salary.

The average work hours would be 7am-5pm.

Position overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide administrative, supervisory, technical and organisational support to the Project Engineer, Project Manager and Supervisor on construction projects.

Site Engineer duties include: (not limited to)

  • In conjunction with the Project Engineer, Project Manager and Supervisor prepare daily programming of site activities.
  • Participate at site meetings and record full and detailed notes/minutes.
  • File and store all project information in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Provide the Project Engineer / Project Manager with relevant documentation received from either the client or authorities in a timely manner.
  • Review and check all new drawings, instructions and documentation received from either the client or authorities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and accurate daily diary.
  • Regularly capture progress of works (photos) and upload to AIMS in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Monitor and track that statutory requirements (e.g. Local Council, EPA etc.) are adhered to on site at all times.

Contract Administration

  • Prior to commencement of site works, gain an understanding of the relevant project specifications, drawings and budgets.
  • Accurately document periods of inclement weather and other delays to the project providing feedback to the Project Engineer/ Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, track and assess subcontractor, supplier and plant dockets and forward to Head Office on a regular basis.

You will need the following to apply:

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent degree.
  • Current C Class drivers licence.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years previous construction engineering experience.
  • Civil construction site management and administration
  • Construction Induction Card (White card).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental Management and Quality Systems to a project is required.
  • Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork.
  • Sound planning and organisational skills. Progressive thinking and robust project administration capabilities.
  • Accountable to project requirements and output.
  • Communication that is clear, concise and easily understood both in written and verbal form.
