job description

Randstad are currently recruiting on behalf of our client on the city fringe for an IT Project Support Officer. The Project Support Officer will work closely with the PMO Lead to provide expertise and undertake specialised program/project activities to enable the successful delivery of large-scale, complex ICT program of work in alignment to the PMO framework and processes.

This will be an initial 6-month contract with likely extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance of high-level project management methodologies (PRINCE2) to monitor and support the delivery of the program of work.
  • Understand PMO governance processes, and drive and support the project managers and work stream leads in the support of these processes.
  • Apply project management approach to ensure the delivery of specialised work packages are timely and within scope, including work package performance reporting.
  • Actively monitor and review project status reports, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and decisions including overall program reporting.
  • Actively monitor resources and expenditure within the agreed program, project and work streams against the forecasts.
  • Program & Project financial management in the areas of; budget tracking, forecasts, accruals, actuals, creating financial reports and processing in the financial management system.
  • Undertake risk and issues identification, assessment and mitigation activities by ensuring risks and issues are documented, reviewed and escalated as appropriate.
  • Ensure use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools in line with policy.
  • Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders, facilitates effective communications and fosters relationships through lessons learned, feedback mechanisms and management of expectations.
  • Contribute to the achievement of continuous improvement by participating in consultation and review of project and program documentation.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members.

About you:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, often within tight timeframes
  • Ability to undertake tasks individually
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can alter frequently.
  • Experience using Confluence and JIRA for knowledge and task management would be highly regarding.
