Our client is offering a rare and exciting opportunity for an established electrical engineer to work on one of the world’s largest Solar and Battery storage projects. The client is looking to hire a project engineer for the development and delivery phase to act for the owner. This role will be offered as a longer fix term contract or permanent position available.

Reporting to the Project Manager and Commercial Manager in all phases of development and construction. This role will be responsible for schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project. During construction, the project engineer will assist the EPC contractor on site, helping tradespeople interpret the job’s designs, ensure the job is constructed according to the project plans, and assist project controls. Responsibilities for this position include but not limited to:

  • Scoping, soliciting proposals, engaging and managing technical and specialist consultants
  • Identifying and compiling budget requirements and tracking commitments and costs for technical and engineering project activities
  • Identifying tasks and dependencies for engineering and technical project activities and helping to track progress of these
  • providing input into large value procurement activities including tenders for EPC delivery of projects
  • Management of and active involvement in options studies for the scoping of projects and the associated internal stakeholder engagement for these
  • Assisting contract management for the engineering and technical aspects of large delivery projects under EPCM or EPC arrangements, including management of associated Owner’s Engineering consultant assistance and oversight
  • Providing ad hoc technical investigations and engineering with rapid turnaround to supplement available and provided information and to provide high level guidance for the project team.


  • An electrical Engineering degree or closely related engineering background
  • Experience of design of solar systems, ideally MW scale ground mounted systems with expertise in PVsyst
  • Experience of the design of wind farms with expertise in operating Wind Farmer or similar
  • Project engineering experience from utility-scale renewable, power generation or oil & gas construction projects
  • Good process related discipline and skills to utilize process to drive delivery and outcomes
  • A good understanding of project controls – contract management, cost, and scheduling – especially scheduling with an ability to understand the EPC schedule in depth
  • LV to HV experience is essential
  • Good communication skills with an ability to work and collaborate across a relatively broad range of business disciplines to coordinate and capture requirements
  • Experience working in the Australian Power Industry is essential
