We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Policy professional to join the Department of Education as a Senior Policy Officer.

About your new role
As the Senior Policy Officer, you will be working within a wider team, advising and developing on relevant policies to guide on outcomes and delivery of services for Before and After School Care. So you will need to have a commitment to building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, an ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment and have a thorough understanding of relevant policies and processes. Tasks will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Support in the development and implementation of policies and processes;
- Project management (including team management) and evaluation across risk management, benefits realisation and quality control;
- Conducting research and report writing;
- Responding to ministerial and departmental correspondence;
- Governance support at Exec and Dep-Sec levels with preparation of meeting papers and minute taking.
What you will need
Policy Officers are often working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, so it is essential that you have the ability to multi-task and enjoy working with stakeholders, treating them with honesty, fairness, sensitivity and dignity.
- Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications;
- Advanced policy analysis and writing skills;
- Relevant subject matter experience and previous Government experience;
- Self motivated and able to manage time effectively.
