SENIOR POLICY/PROJECT OFFICER

Randstad has a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Policy/Project Officer for a role with the Victorian State Government.

The Senior Policy/Project Officer will lead one or more projects, as well as contribute to other work of the unit. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to build constructive relationships within the Department as well as with external stakeholders, and proactive project and contract management skills.

ROLE PURPOSE

  • Managing refugee education supports and related programs
  • Administering key multicultural initiatives, such as learning and teaching resources addressing racism
  • Providing advice to stakeholders regarding multicultural access and equity issues affecting schools and their students, such as racism, needs of refugees and asylum seekers, engaging with parents and families, and multicultural inclusion
  • Supporting and/or engaging with stakeholders on other complimentary tasks or initiatives

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide specialist advice on policy issues to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and, as appropriate, present discussion papers, submissions, reports and briefings for committees, expert bodies, ministers or key decision makers
  • Provide specialist advice on policy issues to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Take a lead role in proactively addressing issues, concerns or problems with stakeholders
  • Formulates and communicates public policy options and recommendations
  • Keeps up-to-date with a broad range of contemporary issues
  • Liaises with stakeholders
  • Scans for links and potential implications of proposed policy options
  • Consults, liaises with, and influences key stakeholders
  • Ensures project objectives are met
  • Monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues

  • Uses analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems
