We really listen to our clients to understand their workforce challenges. Our client is on the look out for a Senior Planning Officer.

Description
Our client requires a full-time experienced Senior Planning Officer to commence as soon as possible on a temporary contract based in the Eastern Suburbs.

The main objectives of the role are to:

  • Provide high level technical advice and liaise as required with other officers, the general public and government and statutory authorities, developers etc on matters relating to the more complex Planning and Development matters
  • Undertake specific projects, research and prepare reports into specific matters of concern as required including input to forward planning for the Planning Section
  • Represent the client in dealings and meetings with the public, other local governments and at hearings before the State Administrative Tribunal as required
  • Process and report on subdivision and complex development applications [including Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) applications] and respond to related enquiries
  • Chair the Development Control Group meetings as required by the Manager
  • Review and prepare Planning policies and guidelines for consideration by the client and coordinate implementation, as appropriate

Profile
As an ideal applicant, you will have;

  • Significant experience in Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) applications
  • Possession of formal qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent, to meet eligibility requirements for corporate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia
  • Previous relevant experience within the Planning field, particularly in policy formulation and implementation, subdivision and development control and Local Planning Schemes
  • Proven written communication and project management skills, including the ability to undertake research and write complex reports
  • Experience in a similar environment in Local Government or the public sector generally
