THE JOB IN BRIEF:

Location: City of Greater Dandenong, Carrum, Keysborough, Mordialloc, Mulgrave

Reports to: Head of Payroll & Payroll Team Leader

Team Size: 18

Payroll Size: 6,700

Payroll Systems: Chris21

Payroll Frequency: Fortnightly payruns.

T&A systems: None

EBAs/Awards: 8 EBAs and a number of awards.

Length/Salary: Permanent, Ongoing, Full time role. $70,000-$75,000

THE COMPANY

A leading provider of medical services and medical devices with a network spreading throughout Australia. This organisation has a proud history of providing high end services since a merger between a number of other businesses 15 years ago.

Their head office is a stand alone office building based in the south eastern suburbs, there is on site parking and the office is full of natural light and greenery. You will be a stones throw from recreational facilities, childcare facilities and coffee and lunchtime options.

With an average tenure across the business of 5 years and an average tenure in the payroll team of over 8 years. You will be joining a stable environment that puts investment into their office functions. The business has grown by 20% in the past year and is continuing on that curve over the next 3 years.

THE TEAM

You will join an experienced and qualified payroll manager who has a history of developing their staff, all of the team leaders within the business were trained by this payroll manager and they have been described as “the best payroll manager I’ve had” by multiple people within the business both past and present.

The team is supportive and friendly, you will have a wealth of experience to call upon if you were ever stuck.

THE ROLE

You will be a key member of the payroll team, responsible for accurate and timely payroll delivery across Australia. Operating on continent-wide payrolls you will be able to handle queries on both the phone and on email.

As a Chris21 expert, you will bring an understanding of the system and a knowledge of the system that will enable you to work at a fast pace comfortably. You will eventually manage your own portfolio of sites where you will be responsible for everything, including the EBA increment changes.

Responsible for

  • Fortnightly and payroll across a portfolio of the business.
  • Analysing pay rates and job grading across applicable EAs and Awards.
  • Providing accurate payroll information to managers and business control.
  • Ensuring that the business is compliant with legislation.
  • Liaising with managers to ensure employee records are maintained.
  • Identify process improvements.
  • Liaise with auditors during the payroll audit process.
  • End of month reporting.
  • Handling queries.

ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive payroll experience.
  • Understanding of the Chris21 Payroll System
  • Experience interpreting awards and/or EBAs.
  • Experience in a complex payroll.

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS

  • Capability to make decisions.
  • Honest and attentive approach to payroll.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to communicate across a business at different levels.

To be successful in this role you will have strong communication skills, a customer service focused approach, you will be able to show initiative and demonstrate excellent time management skills. You will be results oriented and able to work collaboratively with the rest of the team.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a payroll officer, payroll executive, payroll consultant, senior payroll officer, payroll administrator, wages clerk or payroll manager.
