Senior Business Analyst

12 month contract

Negotiable Rate

Sydney CBD

Position purpose:

- Assigned to IT Portfolio of projects in the role of Senior Business Analyst to gather, document and analyse varying stages of business requirements, translate them into functional specifications for approval by project sponsor/stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with project methodology and enterprise architecture.

- Driving digital based solutions and prototypes across both business and IT driven initiatives and capabilities

- Providing technical leadership and subject matter expertise when defining, developing and executing customer-facing digital solutions.

Key accountabilities:

1. Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with the companies safety management system requirements.

2. Meeting with key business stakeholders to understand business needs, gather information and analyse requirements.

3. Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of existing business operations to establish a base for developing improved structures, processes and systems.

4. Analysing workflow to create process and information models and identify areas of potential improvement.

5. Working with relevant stakeholders (business and internal to IT) to develop documents describing required change that accurately reflects stated issues.

6. Contribute to business cases that describe and justify the parameters of technology change initiatives.

7. Developing Business Requirements documents for projects within agreed policies, standards and architectures and obtain sign off from appropriate stakeholders.

8. Producing functional and non-functional specifications to communicate user requirements in technical terms.

9. Reviewing functional specifications and solution concepts developed by vendors that describe the desired outcomes of system development, integration or enhancement projects within agreed policies, standards and architectures to ensure these solutions meet the business requirements.

10. Support the development of test strategies, plans, scripts and assist with testing activities where applicable.

11. Manage requirements through the entire project life cycle and provide input to project change requests.

Selection criteria:

· High-level analytical skills , demonstrated by the ability to research and to apply problem solving skills to complex technical problems

· Extensive experience in developing user requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications, test cases & procedures and user documentation.

· Outstanding ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs

· Demonstrable and comprehensive experience of in contemporary business analysis techniques and tools

· Demonstrable and comprehensive experience in stakeholder management involving stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

· Demonstrable and comprehensive knowledge of full system development life cycle, it’s typical phases, the deliverables within the phases and the Business Analysts role within the phases

· Knowledge of programming, system design, IT infrastructure and database concepts

· Understanding of process improvement methodologies, related concepts and frameworks

· Excellent liaison, communication (verbal and written), negotiation, consultation, conflict resolution, change management, document and report writing skills

· Appropriate tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline, or demonstrated advanced ability in business analysis

· Experience across a wide range of development environments and platforms.

· Adept at engaging with internal business customers at all levels within an organisation and are able to use strong people skills to positively influence others. Experienced in gathering and documenting requirements and user stories using a range of tools.

· Experience working in team environments using the Agile methodology to deliver complex, projects with multiple integration points with Enterprise systems like SAP.
