        Head of Legal - Risk, Compliance and Government 6 month contract (view to go permanent)Flexible working and excellent reward scheme The RoleAs Head of Legal, you will provide legal, risk and compliance services in order to ensure the business operates with an effective risk management framework, maintains compliance with all applicable laws, its contractual framework is consistent with its risk appetite and it operates an effective governance framework.ResponsibilitiesLegal Negotiation of contracts with clients and third party providersTechnical input to regulatory or legal questions with assistance from COO as required.Engage and manage external counsel where necessary.Risk ManagementImplementation of an effective risk management framework, appropriate to the size and nature of the business.Assistance with regulatory liaison as required.ComplianceImplementation of an effective compliance management program, with particular emphasis on AFSL compliance.AuditEngagement and oversight of AFSL auditors.Periodic engagement of internal audit as required.Company secretarialAct as Company Secretary, providing an efficient corporate secretariat including coordination and minuting of board minutes.Oversight of all required corporate and regulatory filings. Qualifications7+ years’ experience in legal, compliance or risk management within financial services.Basic to solid understanding of financial services laws.Experience in contract negotiation.Ability to implement, with guidance, an end to end risk management and compliance framework, leveraging existing frameworks where appropriate and leveraging input from senior leaders.Ability to build trust and respect from internal staff.Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).Ability to travel between Sydney and Melbourne.Essential: Tertiary qualifications in law.
